# How does a safety buoy work?
A quick tug on the trigger is all it takes, and the safety buoy inflates via the [CO2 cartridge](https://restube.com/products/restube-spare-cartridges) in seconds. Simply lean over the flotation device to keep your head comfortably above water, giving you the valuable time and peace of mind to orient yourself or regain your strength. You can also use the buoy to actively draw attention to yourself; when towed behind you while inflated, the bright signal color ensures you are perfectly visible on the water at all times.
Your [RESTUBE safety buoy](https://restube.com/collections/restube-safety-buoys) is also designed to help others in difficult situations – just hand the inflated buoy to someone in need for instant buoyancy. This provides you and everyone around you with true peace of mind and the confidence to enjoy your time in, an and around the water together. After use, simply repack the buoy and insert a new cartridge to get ready for your next adventure.
