What is the difference between a life jacket and the PFD, and which one do I need?

Find out how a life jacket and the RESTUBE PFD differ in buoyancy and protection, and which one suits your activity.

A life jacket is designed to keep you afloat even if you lose consciousness, turning you onto your back and holding your airways above water. The RESTUBE PFD is a certified swim aid in the 50 N class. It is much more compact and comfortable to wear, but it does not replace a life jacket. Which one is right for you depends on your activity, the water conditions and your swimming experience. Our articles explain it in detail:

  • Life Jacket vs. Buoyancy Aid (PFD): How much buoyancy each one provides, which situations they are designed for, and which option is the better choice for you.
  • ACTIVE vs. PFD: Versatile safety buoy or certified swim aid? This comparison helps you find the right solution for your activity.
